60 More COVID-19 Deaths Reported in Delaware County, Bringing Total Fatalities to 224

Sixty additional deaths were reported in Delaware County from COVID-19 as of Wednesday, April 29, bringing the number of total deaths in the county to 224, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

Of that number, 113 occurred in a nursing home or personal care facility in the county.

COVID-19 deaths have now been reported in 29 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

The following is a breakdown of COVID-19 fatalities listed by the Chester County Health Department by community in descending order of deaths reported:

The county’s total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases increased by 158 and now stands at 3,672.

The virus is reported in 48 of the 49 municipalities, with no cases reported in Rose Valley.

There are 179 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has been assigned.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 235 cases, affecting 2.05 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most reported cases, at 620, affecting .75 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

By gender, 55.48 percent of the cases reported have been female, 42.75 percent male and 1.61 percent unknown.

The county has had 8,426 people test negative for the virus.

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of midnight, April 29, that there are 1,102 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 44,366.

All 67 counties in Pennsylvania have cases of COVID-19.

As a result of continued work to reconcile data from various sources, the state is reporting an increase of 479 deaths bringing the statewide total to 2,195 deaths in Pennsylvania. These deaths have occurred over the last two weeks.

Of those,1,428 were in nursing homes and personal care facilities.

The southeast region of the state, which includes Delaware, Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks and Chester Counties, has the highest number of COVID-19 positive confirmed cases in the state, at 28,092.  The northeast has the second highest number of cases, at 9,496.
