Twins Sarah and Taylor Anderson of Broomall first stepped on to the ice at age 4. Today at 24 they are prepping for the national championships of curling, writes Erin McCarthy for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

By 16, the Marple Newtown High School students were  already traveling internationally for curling competitions.

They live in Minneapolis now, training at the national curling facility outside the city. Sarah and Taylor didn’t qualify for the 2018 Olympics, but are trying for the 2022 games in Beijing.

As they participate in the U.S. National Championships this week in Spokane, Washington, they hope to take their second women’s championship title.

“The national championships are always really exciting,”

said Sarah Anderson. “It’s the best teams in the country competing for that title, so it’s exciting that everyone’s bringing their best game.”

The two women are most proud of winning their first women’s national championship. “It was a great honor to finally win it, because we’re both pretty young in the sport,” said Taylor.

The two make it back to Delaware County twice a year.

“The pizza at home is so good, or Wawa, or Rita’s. All things we don’t have out here in the Midwest.”
