In 2019, 33.02 million people traveled through the Philadelphia International Airport to and from their destinations, writes Julia Hatmaker for pennlive.com.
That’s a 4.2 percent increase over 2018, a new record for the airport.
It also increased air cargo volume by 9.4 percent, the second-highest cargo year at the airport.
Most of the growth in passengers came from domestic travel. Those number of passengers increased by 4.5 percent, whereas the amount of international passengers only increased by 1.9 percent.
The airport’s also see a growth in available flights and destinations from Philadelphia.
In 2019, Philadelphia Airport added American Airlines flights to San Antonio, Key West, Edinburgh and Berlin, among others.
Domestic travel will probably see further growth in 2020. Frontier Airlines is offering three new service options at the airport, letting travelers fly easily to Los Angeles, Boston and Chicago.
The Philadelphia International Airport is located at 8000 Essington Ave. in Philadelphia.
Owned and operated by the City of Philadelphia, it generates more than $16 billion in economic benefits for the region.
