Pound Fitness, offered at the Eastern Delaware County YMCA in Lansdowne, continues to be a popular way to release stress and gain strength, reported Ali Gorman for 6abc.com.

It’s a 45-minute mix of cardio, strength training – and drumming.
The only equipment needed is a mat and ripstix.

“They weigh about a half pound,” said instructor Lisa Drake.  Drake said the ripstix add intensity and fun to upper body moves and the cardio workout.

The moves are fairly easy to pick up, and even if you get lost.-

“We say everyone is allowed to do their own drum solo, as long as you are moving and having fun you’re good to go,” said Drake.

The exercise works out biceps, triceps, shoulder, abs, and legs. The class is for all levels. You can slow it down if you need to… or add more intensity.

There’s also a kids version called “Generation Pound.”
