Job seekers looking for some government work will now be able to find county job postings on the Delaware County website, writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.

This change piggybacks with Delaware County Council’s decision to hire human resources specialist Stacy Heisey-Terrell at $75 an hour to revamp hiring practices for the county.

“We’re building the foundations, the building blocks of an effective, strong county government,” county Councilman Kevin Madden said. “Our most important asset is our people. This government really runs because of the quality of folks that we have who serve the community every day.”

The idea is to open up job opportunities to the wider community. There’s no recruiting process to do that now, said County Councilwoman Elaine Paul Schaefer.

The specialist will also compile a vendor/contractor list and establish best practices for board and commission appointments. The public will be notified in advance of  vacancies.

In another change, Council has scheduled an ethics and reform public hearing Thursday, Feb. 6, 6 p.m., as it implements a new set of standards for council members and department directors.
