Drexel Hill Man Partners With Temple Roommate to Create Rentable Gaming Pods

By

Dalton Carroll of Drexel Hill has joined with Temple University soccer teammate Sam Speaker to launch Gamrpod, a soundproof live streaming gaming booth for use at esports centers and events, writes Paige Gross for technical.lyphilly.com.

The first booth launches next month in Chinatown’s TAP Esports Center.

The pair were Division One soccer players and roommates. In their time off, they played video games together.

Carroll went into audio engineering and sales. Speaker became a public accountant.

Their three month old startup grew out of their love of gaming.

Gamrpod grew out of gaming’s high cost of equipment. It can cost thousands of dollars to set up a useable system at home.

“That’s kind of what spurred the idea of Gamrpod, a rentable by-the-hour soundproof booth that gives the opportunity to amateur, young, startup streamers,” Speaker said.

Users can access the equipment for less than $20 an hour.

Speaker and Carroll are planning for a fleet of pods that can be set up at gaming competitions and in esports centers.

The cofounders are raising friends and family funding and are the only employees so far. They’ve handled the design, construction and roll out of the product themselves.
