Waterless Works, a waterless car wash company in Broomall, has been acquired by CoxAutomotive, the parent company of Kelley Blue Book and Autotrader.com, writes Michelle Caffrey for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Waterless CEO and Founder Chris Caporale started the business in 2014 while a student at St. Joseph’s University. A clay-based material is used instead of water to break up dirt.

Waterless offers car washing services to large local employers like QVC and Vanguard Group.

Caporale said  the acquisition will allow his operation to expand and tap into Cox’s significantly larger resources.

As part of the deal, Waterless Works will merge with RideKleen, a vehicle fleet cleaning company in Huntington Valley bought by Cox last year.

Waterless’ operations will shift from Broomall to RideKleen’s facilities in Huntington Valley.

He’s excited his employees will now see the perks of working for a large company like Cox, including health benefits, which Waterless wasn’t able to provide.

“We always say it’s much more [than washing cars],” Caporale said. “Now that’s come to fruition with Cox behind us, they’re able to move up and become an area manager or supervisor.”
