For This Happy Couple, Music Was the Food of Love

By

It was destined that a Springfield High School choir director and a music teacher at Walter Miller Elementary School in Levittown should make beautiful music together, and so, they married, writes Kellie Patrick Gates for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Elizabeth Folger and Michael Zubert were less than impressed with each other at choir camp in the summer of 2008, but they kept running into each other in Philadelphia’s small music scene; at performances, college auditions and at Westminster Choir College, both music education majors.

Time passed. They became a couple.

“He considers everybody’s feelings,” Folger said, adding he’s also smart and hardworking.  “He brought out the best in me.”

Mike says she’s great at talking with people, with friendships going back to grade school.

“I often overthink everything and can be indecisive, while Liz makes a decision,” he said.

They bought their Fishtown home in 2015.

On a Wednesday in 2018, he proposed at Spruce Street Harbor Park.

The couple, now both 28, were wed at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, their home church, where Mike is on the choir staff and Liz once directed the children’s choir.
