Media will soon be getting a new BBQ sandwich franchise, courtesy of longtime Philadelphia Phillies and former mib.com sportswriter Paul Hagen, according to Cision PR Web.

Famous Chaps Pit Beef has been a Baltimore staple since 1987. It’s coming in fall 2019 to 1067 W Baltimore Pike, next to the former Riddle Ale House at the Granite Run Mall site in Media.

Hagen decided to open the franchise after he stopped writing full time in January 2019.  He discovered Chaps Pit Beef on a Baltimore Road trip while covering the Phillies and Major League Baseball for the Philadelphia Daily News.

The Famous Chaps Pit Beef sandwich was recently named “The Best Sandwich in Maryland” by People Magazine. It has been featured multiple times on the Food Network, Travel Channel and in national publications.

Today, their take on pit beef is known nationally, attracting visitors natonwide.

“Chaps is very unique for the Philly area. There is nothing else like it here. That is what I am excited about,” Hagen said recently when asked why he choose to invest in a Chaps franchise.
