The Marple Newtown Swim Club, forced to close in 2017, has been reborn under a new name–Splash Club LLC, writes Pete Bannan for Daily Times.

Two local businessmen have opened the club on a secluded 13-acre property owned by Marple Township at the end of Sunset Blvd.

“I went to the pool, (as a child) and have some great memories of those times but realized what is needed is something updated to drive membership,” said John McKenzie who, along with Nick Reynolds, signed a lease to run the facility.

The $750,000 facility, opening Memorial Day weekend, has a lounge with TV and music, 29 cabanas with table service for a seasonal, daily and weekend rate, and daily towel service for a fee.

For kids, there’s a playground, ping pong and wiffle ball court, an air-conditioned game room and gamer stations with X-box and Nintendo consoles.

A 2,000 square-foot pavilion looks out on the pools from the restaurant, not a snack bar, Reynolds stressed. A food truck offers snacks and a sun deck looks down on the club from a hillside.

The Washington lounge fire pit offers evening relaxation.

The club will host birthday parties, theme nights and special events.
