A tall grandfather clock with one arm that is on display at the Delaware County Historical Society gives a glimpse into the days when having accurate time was not as important, according to a report from the Delaware County News Network.

The longcase clock was donated to the Society by Mary Mendenhall Brazer in the 1920s. It previously stood proudly at Primitive Hall, the manor house in West Marlborough Township built in 1738 by Irishman Joseph Pennock.

Pennock inherited the land for the manor from his maternal grandfather, George Collet, who was granted more than 4,000 acres in the London Grove vicinity by William Penn. Pennock himself served as a representative in the Pennsylvania General Assembly and as a court justice.

One-armed clocks were manufactured from the mid-17th century to the 18th century, when clocks with two hands became more common. Before the addition of the minute hand, clocks were considered accurate within 15 minutes.
