The Patriot League recently named Springfield native James Spence its Goalkeeper of the Week in men’s lacrosse.

Spence, a Springfield High School graduate who competes for Lehigh, made 11 saves and registered a .579 save percentage in a 10-8 victory over Colgate.

The sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering managed to stop four of Colgate’s five shots in the first quarter. He stopped six out of a total of eight shots in the first half, propelling the Mountain Hawks to the win.

Spence has an 8.71 goals against average this season, as well as a .528 save percentage.

His older brother, Lucas Spence, is a senior attackman for the Mountain Hawks. Lucas is tied for the team lead in scoring, having tallied five goals and six assists in just five games. The elder Spence was a second-team All-Patriot League selection last year.
