The new 5,500-square-foot Super Wawa at the Shoppes at Wissinoming in Northeast Philadelphia is ready to open its doors to eager customers on Thursday, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The region’s favorite convenience store joins the ShopRite at the new $29 million shopping center that covers 110,000 square feet.

The shopping center has been in the works for five years. It is located in a number of assembled industrial properties that had to go through environmental cleanup before the development could begin. The project by FC Development Group and ARC Properties received several state and city tax credits to help with remediation and financing.

Wawa’s new neighbors include Blink Fitness, AT&T, and Hair Cuttery. The center is almost fully leased, with only a pad site and 5,000 square feet still vacant.

“It’s fully realized at this point, and we’re just wrapping up the loose ends,” said Richard Soloff of Soloff Realty & Development, which represents the developer.
