State Rep. Jordan Harris, who earned a master’s degree in education from Cabrini University, is the youngest-ever House Democrat to be whip, writes Stephen Caruso for the Pennsylvania Capital-Star.

Harris, 34, has just started his fourth term representing the 186th District. He is very results-oriented, especially when it comes to criminal justice reform and educational funding.

In fact, Harris is described as determined on issues that matter most to him, but also savvy enough to create allies in unlikely places.

This is why his accomplishments in just six years in Harrisburg are respected. He supported the nation’s first Clean Slate law, which seals non-violent criminal records after 10 years. There’s also an executive order that bans questions about criminal records from being put on government job applications.

He also often takes on topics that are out of step with the majority of his party, such as being a vocal supporter of charter schools.

“That’s how you change the trajectory of people’s lives,” said Harris. They are important “to people whose lives will change, whose children’s lives will change, whose grandchildren’s lives will change.”
