The Garnet Valley High School cheerleading team recently captured the program’s first-ever state championship, writes Loretta Rodgers for the Daily Times.

During the PIAA championships at the Giant Center in Hershey, Garnet Valley’s varsity competition team won the large division.

“We are thrilled to see all of their time, commitment, and hard work culminate with this outstanding achievement and championship,” said Garnet Valley High School principal Stephen Brandt.

The 28-member team is coached by Lisa Garman and Abby Lucking and assistant coach Paige Garman. The girls finished with 94.80 out of 100, the highest score across all the divisions.

Earlier, in December, Garnet Valley secured its spot in the PIAA championships by topping 41 teams at the District One tournament.

“We are so proud of the team,” said Garman. “They really peaked at the right time.”
