Becky Saunders, 92, was born and raised in Charlotte, N.C., graduated from Queens University of Charlotte, and was married to her husband Glenn for just short of 50 years. In this Q&A, Saunders shares what brought her north, what she likes most about Five Star Senior Living in Exton, and her words of wisdom.

Q: What made you move here from Charlotte?

A: Moved here to be closer to my daughters after my husband passed away.

Q: How long have you lived at Exton Senior Living?

A: 11 years!

Q: What is your favorite thing about Exton Senior Living?

A: We have very nice people who work here. They are helpful. Also, it’s easy to make friends here, I think. I tell my friends from the South to move here!

Q: What is your favorite activity at Exton Senior Living?

A: I enjoy morning coffee time with Abby. I also really enjoyed the holiday party we had this year. My son came in from Raleigh to join me. We sat by the fireplace, had wine, and listened to the live music.

Q: What is the most important lesson you feel you have learned in your 92 years of living?

A: Don’t take anything for granted, ever.

Q: What life advice would you like to pass on?

A: Be happy with what you have in life and the path that you take.

Q: Who is your hero?

A: My wonderful husband Glenn.

Q: What is your New Year’s Resolution for 2019?

A: I’m not going to take anyone or anything for granted.

A: Just be happy where you are planted.
