In honor of its 10th season in 2019, the Philadelphia Union has announced a collaboration with fans and local influencers on a never-seen-before, customizable back tag initiative for the Union’s new 2019 secondary jersey.

On the Union’s new kit, which will be released early next year, the back tags, a heat transferred design located on the back of the jersey near the name, will vary depending on player choice. In a first for an adidas-designed jersey, as well as the first in MLS, each player will be able to choose from one of 10 designs for his on-field jersey, with the 10 choices representing the club’s 10 years in MLS.

The final 10 back tag designs available will be voted upon by fans, who will also be able to choose from the same 10 options with which to customize their jerseys when purchasing the 2019 kit.

From Dec. 13-22, the Union will unveil a unique pack of designs each day. Union fans are encouraged to vote on their favorites in each pack via the Philadelphia Union website and the club’s social channels, including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Voters can vote across all channels and may vote as many times as they would like.

The design options were created in collaboration with local influencers, including rapper Freeway; alternative rock group The Wonder Years; the Union’s Chief Tattoo Officer, Bonedaddy’s Tattoo; local athletes Zach and Julie Ertz; and the Union’s supporter group, the Sons of Ben.

Once voting has closed, the Top 10 designs will be chosen and revealed in the new year. Those 10 designs will be made available to players for their on-field kits, as well as for fans to customize when ordering the 2019 jersey from the Union Shop at Talen Energy Stadium.
