Havertown resident Brian Niles – the founder of TargetX, a provider of software solutions for colleges in their quest to recruit and retain students – has switched careers at the age of 50, starting House Cup Coffee Roasters from his garage, writes Pete Bannan for the Delaware County News Network.

He has since expanded to a new work space on Eagle Road in Havertown.

“l was looking to do something different after 50,” said Niles. “I sat down and thought I really want to do something in jeans and a black shirt, so this is it.”

Niles, who previously worked in marketing, is enjoying not having to travel all the time. This gives him a lot more time to spend with his wife Adrienne and their child.

Niles got certified as a roast master at the Vermont School of Coffee. He says that coffee does not need to be complicated and believes that the right filtration system makes all the difference.

“We’re local; it doesn’t get any fresher,” said Niles. “And we will deliver it to you locally.”
