Neumann University recently honored three women who live in Delaware County at its annual Alumni Awards and Hall of Fame Recognition Dinner.

Diane Holefelder of Media received the John Neumann Award for service to the university and the community. Holefelder currently serves as a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Magisterial District Judge. Before being elected to the court, Judge Holefelder was the vice president of Holefelder Brothers, Inc., a business entrepreneur, and the owner/editor of the Delaware County Today Almanac.

She has served numerous organizations, including the Aston Business Association, the Aston Township Community Day Committee, the Delaware County Historical Society, the Rotary Club of Glen Riddle, and the Chester Business Association.

The Young Alumni Achievement Award was presented to Maria Sotomayor-Giacomucci of Brookhaven. Sotomayor-Giacomucci serves as the deputy director at Pennsylvania Immigration and Citizenship Coalition, where she has worked as civic engagement and community outreach coordinator and a deferred action coordinator since her graduation.

She is a social justice advocate and immigrant rights educator who travels to speak on behalf of those who feel that they do not have a voice. Her personal mission is to advance immigrants’ rights and promote their full integration into society by advocating for greater public understanding and welcoming public policies throughout Pennsylvania.

Noelle Stack of Boothwyn received the Volunteer of the Year Award. Noelle just received her master’s degree in nursing and is employed by the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as nurse manager for the Care Management Department.

She has served on the university’s Scholarship Gala Committee, is a member of the nursing chapter executive board, and participates in the Notes for Knights program, reaching out to prospective students. She also speaks on campus, attends admissions events, and helps raise money for student scholarships.
