Radnor-based producer John Ricciutti of Thistle Dew Productions is bringing the story of the 27 Father Judge High School graduates killed in the Vietnam War to big and small screens nationwide, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

Ricciutti joined forces with film director and producer Shawn Swords of Irish American Films and the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association for Remembering the Judge 27.

“Ours is a unique and exclusive Philadelphia story of patriotism,” said Ricciutti. “This is a story that has never been told.”

More graduates of Father Judge High School in Northeast Philadelphia were killed during the Vietnam War than any other existing Catholic or private school in the nation. The movie focuses on their families who were left to deal with the devastating loss that changed their lives.

“Some of the families that we’ve talked with have said that no one has ever talked to them about their son, their brother, their uncle, or their cousin in 50 years,” said Swords, of Glenolden.

The film’s release is planned for November, close to Veterans Day.
