Radnor’s Qlik Ends Four-Month Search, Hires New CEO

By

Mike Capone

Qlik, a business analytics company based in Radnor, has hired Mike Capone, the former Medidata Solutions chief and ADP executive, as its new CEO, writes Joseph DiStefano for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Capone’s hiring ends a four-month search that began after Qlik boss Lars Björk stepped down after 17 years at the helm.

Qlik, which was purchased for $3 billion by Chicago investment firm Thoma Bravo in 2016, recently conducted a round of layoffs. “A couple of dozen” people at the Radnor headquarters lost their jobs, said spokeswoman Maria Scurry. “Very significant global cuts to the Qlik sales and marketing workforce” were reported by Donald Farmer, head of vendor software consultant TreeView.

Qlik’s corporate, sales, and financial functions are based in Radnor. Its technology and research and development offices are in Sweden. At the end of 2016, the company employed about 2,500.

Capone headed Medidata Solutions, a New York-based medical-data firm with an office in Conshohocken, from 2014-17. Prior to that, he spent 15 years with ADP.

“The smart use of data and analytics can have transformative effects on an industry, and I am excited to join a company that enables customers in every industry to rethink what’s possible,” Capone said.
