Boeing has won a five-year contract worth $4.2 billion that will bring more production to the company’s plant in Ridley Park, writes Kevin Tustin for the Delaware County News Network.
The contract calls for the construction of 58 tilt-rotor V-22 Osprey aircrafts, which will be used by several branches of the armed forces, as well as the Japanese government.
The company is also investing $100 million into the development of a new factory in Ridley, which is expected to open next year. The factory will construct Osprey vehicles, as well as continue the Common Configuration-Readiness and Modernization program, which will retrofit older models of the aircraft.

For the new factory, a 350,000-square-foot area in the plant will be renovated for the CC-RAM assembly line, while fuselage production will be relocated. Among the many new features, the factory will include wash/de-paint and final paint booths, a cafeteria, and training area.
“These goals take bold commitments from all of us who are involved,” said Kristin Houston, program director of the Bell Boeing V-22 Program. “This is a bright future for the V-22 program.”
