Darby native Darrell Hill, a Penn Wood High School graduate, recently claimed the national title in shot put at the U.S. Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, writes Terry Toohey for the News of Delaware County.

Hill was in fifth place by the end of the first round at Drake Stadium. He rallied in the final, though, completing a pair of throws more than 21 meters that secured him first place.

This is the first national title for the 2016 Olympian.

The victory also bumped Hill up to fifth in the world rankings.
