Mark Jackson, Villanova’s Director of Athletics, is in charge of the university’s NCAA enterprise, which incorporates 24 varsity sports and more than 600 student-athletes, writes Peter Gobis for The Attleboro (Mass.) Sun Chronicle.

Jackson, a native of Mansfield, Mass., has been at the Wildcats’ helm for three years, a time that spans the men’s basketball team’s last two national championships.

In addition to the men’s basketball success, Jackson has also overseen a number of programs that have won Big East Conference titles.

“We want to make sure that in all 24 sports, we’re competing in all of them,” he said. “We have to strengthen that; a lot depends on revenue.”

Besides providing executive leadership and strategic direction, Jackson is also active off campus.

He is chairman of the Big East Conference Athletic Directors Committee, serves with the Big Five Athletic Directors Committee, and co-chairs the Collegiate Sports Summit for Athletic Directors.
