Sea Isle City, N.J., has acquired the nickname of “Delaware County East” due to the number of people here who vacation at the popular beach town, writes Donald Wittkowski for Sea Isle News.

“I’ve heard that many, many people come here on vacation from Delaware County,” said Sea Isle City Mayor Leonard Desiderio.

Quite a few Delco residents also own vacation homes there, Desiderio said.

In recognition of this relationship, the Chambers of Commerce for both Sea Isle City and Delaware County will hold a meet-and-greet on June 29 in Sea Isle to promote tourism and business.

Sponsoring the meet-and-greet for the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce is Michael Brady, who owns an LPL Financial Services firm, as well as a home at the shore destination.

Christopher Glancey, president of the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization, believes that Delaware County represents one of the biggest – if not the biggest – feeder markets for Sea Isle’s vacationers.

If this initial meet-and-greet is successful, it may turn into an annual event to stimulate business and tourism in both Sea Isle and Delaware County.
