Villanova basketball coach Jay Wright prefers to look at the season from start to finish, instead of focusing just on the NCAA Tournament, writes John Feinstein for The Washington Post.

“The way I’ve come to look at it is the NCAA Tournament is just that, a tournament,” said Wright. “But we all know that things happen. You have a bad night; someone else has a good night.”

Wright has not had many bad nights in his 17 seasons on Villanova’s bench. His 418 victories with the Wildcats are the most in program history.

However, despite another 30-win season, the pressure was especially high ahead of last weekend’s matchup with Alabama, as Villanova has often been eliminated in the second round.

“It’s ‘are they going to lose in the second round again?’” Wright said ahead of the game. “I’m fully aware of that.”

This year, however, there was no need to worry, as Villanova cruised past Alabama and is now two wins away from a return trip to the Final Four.
