Michael Horrocks, the West Chester University graduate who lost his life in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, will be inducted into the Capital Area Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, writes Eric Epler for the Harrisburg Patriot-News.

Horrocks’s tragic death touched many people in the region. He was First Officer of United Airlines Flight 175, which crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center.

A Glen Mills resident at the time of his death, Horrocks was a star quarterback at Hershey High School and WCU. His days with the Golden Rams are immortalized in a statue at Farrell Stadium.

Horrocks is one of 10 people who will be celebrated on June 9 during an induction ceremony.
