The University of Pennsylvania Health System received preliminary approval to build a $200 million medical facility in Radnor, writes Natalie Kostelni in the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The health system purchased a 35-acre property at 145 King of Prussia Road three years ago. It hopes to obtain final approval for its plans in late spring and begin construction in the fall.

Penn Health’s plan calls for the construction of a 250,000-square-foot medical building and 1,000-vehicle garage. A variety of medical operations will be housed at the new site, which will occupy about half of the property. The remaining property will be sold to a developer for a hotel and office building.

Penn Medicine has not selected a developer yet. Some of the new office space will be used by Penn Medicine. The hotel will be tied in with the medical building, with people spending the night before or after surgical procedures.

Demolition of an existing structure at the site is under way. The project is slated to be completed by early 2020.
