ChristianaCare Expands Presence on Delaware County’s Medical Landscape

A beam-signing ceremony July 9 indicated that the structural phase of ChristianaCare's new Aston micro-hospital is finished.

ChristianaCare has completed its bankruptcy deal for five Delaware County Crozer locations and will be bringing primary care, imaging, surgery and behavioral health treatment services to the county.

The nonprofit estimated it preserved more than 200 jobs in the $50 million bankruptcy deal by acquiring five Crozer leases in Broomall, Glen Mills, Havertown and Media, writes Harold Brubaker for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The health system outbid Main Line Health in a bankruptcy auction in May.

“With these practices and services, we are building on what was here before, and we are growing to create new access to care for our Delaware County neighbors,” said Pauline Corso, president of ambulatory network continuity and growth at ChristianaCare,

ChristianaCare, Delaware’s largest health system, is opening a micro hospital in Chester County this month. A similar micro hospital is being built in Aston and a second micro hospital has been approved for Springfield.

It is also exploring a merger with Virtua Health in South Jersey, creating a health system that would run from Burlington County across Pennsylvania and Delaware to Cecil County, Md.

ChristianaCare will start offering gastroenterology services in Glen Mills and Havertown this week.
