What South Philadelphians Need to Know After Joining Delco’s New Congressional District

By

Thanks to Pennsylvania’s new congressional district map, a number of South Philadelphians now find themselves sharing the Fifth Congressional District with Delaware County, writes Stephanie Farr for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Inquirer has compiled a list of tips for the “newcomers.”

No. 1, of course, is beer. More precisely, cheap beer. If you find yourself thirsty in Delaware County, don’t bother asking for wine. Local favorites, like Genny Cream Ale, are just as tasty and much easier on your wallet. The rare exception to the low prices is Delco Lager from Aston’s 2SP Brewing Company.

Municipalities are next on the list, as the 562,000-person county is broken down into 49 municipalities, many with their own government and police department. Therefore, the odds are that when you visit Delco, you will often cross from one municipality to another without even knowing it.

Also, Delaware County has given the world Wawa. (You’re welcome!) So don’t be surprised to pass one every few blocks.
