Upper Darby Native, Bonner Grad Appointed Head Coach of U.S. Men’s Rowing Team

Upper Darby native Mike Teti has been named head coach of the U.S. Men’s Rowing Team, effective June 2018, according to WeRow Life.

Teti, 61, is a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School and Saint Joseph’s University. As a rower, he’s a three-time Olympian who won a bronze medal at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul.

“Over the last 20-plus years, Mike Teti has proven himself to be one of the top coaches in the world,” said Patrick McNerney, the CEO of USRowing, the sport’s national governing body.

“I look forward to working with the athletes, club, and collegiate coaches in a collaborative effort,” said Teti. “I am excited to begin as we build toward the Olympic Games in Tokyo and beyond.”

USRowing also announced the opening of a National Team Training Center in Oakland, Calif., that will serve as the primary training venue for Team USA.
