Not long after Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz suffered a season-ending injury, Philadelphians were greeted with billboards encouraging backup Nick Foles, writes Jacob Bogage for The Washington Post.

The 20-foot-by-60-foot message that first appeared along I-95 read “Philly believes in you, St. Nick.”

This injection of optimism ahead of the three games that decided whether the Eagles would make it to the Super Bowl was welcome. Foles delivered beyond expectations in leading the team to the Super Bowl.

The billboards were the idea of Dave Peacock, general manager of Lamar Advertising, which operates 75 digital billboards between Philadelphia and Reading.

The original encouraging messages then turned into “St. Nick Always Delivers!” after the victory over the Vikings. Peacock is now planning to keep the signs up for the big game, and is already thinking up new designs if Philly wins.

“I went to my artist and he put the Santa hat on Nick Foles, and then it took on a life of its own,” said Peacock.
