Delaware County to Receive More Than $12 Million in State Grants

Gov. Tom Wolf and elected officials in Delaware County have announced $12 million in state grants for various projects across the county, writes Kathleen Carey for the Delaware County News Network.

The projects receiving grants range from improvements to shopping centers to infrastructure investments at universities and businesses.

The largest amount, $6 million, is earmarked for Kimberly-Clark in Chester through a Redevelopment Assistance Grant. The funds will support $150 million in infrastructure upgrade projects, according to Sen. Tom Killion and Rep. Brian Kirkland.

This project is anticipated to ensure hundreds of jobs stay in Chester while benefiting the environment.

Other grants include $1.5 million for Neumann University for the addition of a Student Life and Health Sciences Center, $500,000 for improvements to the Crozer-Chester Medical Center, and $500,000 for facility upgrades at the Brandywine Conservancy and Museum of Art.

Structural improvements to the Delaware River fishing pier in Marcus Hook will receive $500,000, with the same amount allocated for Monroe Energy’s West Side Project.
