Son of Famous Boxing Promoter Named President of Glen Mills’ Board of Managers

The Glen Mills Schools’ Board of Managers has appointed longstanding member of the board, Joe Hand Jr., its new president, according to a report from Bucks Local News.

“I’m excited to get to work with the Board of Managers, faculty and staff, and supporters to carry out the important mission of Glen Mills,” said Hand, a resident of Northampton Township in Bucks County.

A graduate of La Salle High School and King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Hand has long been active in philanthropy and volunteer work. He is also president of the nonprofit Joe Hand Boxing Gym & Computer Lab and Joe Hand Promotions.

The Joe Hand Boxing Gym & Computer Lab was founded more than two decades ago as a refuge for inner-city kids. It was recognized with the Community Service Award from the Philadelphia Sports Congress in 2002. Hand also served as president of the Miracle League of Northampton Township, the baseball and softball league for special-needs children.

“Joe Hand Jr., as president, brings a wealth of experience as a respected business leader and a proven record of giving back to the community,” said Dr. Randy Ireson, Executive Director of Glen Mills.
