Drexel Hill’s popular Drexelbrook apartment community and event center is getting hitched to a brand new Holiday Inn, and the “engagement” gift was a groundbreaking ceremony last week on owner Bill Kay’s 90th birthday.
The under-construction Holiday Inn & Suites Philadelphia at Drexelbrook is anticipated to open in June 2018, according to a Delaware County News Network report by Peg DeGrassa. It will feature “100 rooms, 14 suites, a business center, lounge and bar area, a restaurant, exercise room, indoor swimming pool, two luxury bridal suites, and many more amenities.”
Upper Darby Mayor Thomas Micozzie also marked the milestone ceremony by proclaiming April 6 as L. William Kay Day.
“This is a historic day for Upper Darby and for Delaware County,” he said. “I have been mayor here since 2009, and this hotel has been a priority since the day I took office. We are all thrilled to be here on the day that it is finally becoming a reality.”
Combined with its current facilities, the elevated Drexelbrook will boast “a total hospitality experience,” said catering and events CEO Domenick Savino. “Featuring award-winning cuisine, professional service, and much-needed overnight room accommodations, the new Holiday Inn & Suites Philadelphia at Drexelbrook will allow us to meet the needs of current and future clients desiring an all-inclusive experience.”
