It did not take Lori Greiner long to realize that she was looking at a winner when Scrub Daddy was first introduced on ABC’s Shark Tank, writes Elisabeth Brier for TechDay.

The QVC queen was so impressed by the product that instead of the proposed investment of $100,000 for 10 percent equity, she offered Aaron Krause, a Wynnewood resident and the product’s originator, $200,000 for 20 percent.

More than four years later, it remains one of the best decisions she has made on the popular show as Scrub Daddy has remained the “Most Successful Shark Tank Product.” Today, it is sold around the globe, and makes a regular appearance on QVC.

Since Shark Tank introduced it to a wider audience, the sponge sold an astounding 25 million units and generated more than $110 million in sales for the Folcroft-based business.

One of the bestselling features of the product, in addition to its innovativeness and functionality, is the enthusiasm of its creator. Krause, a graduate of what is now the Barrack Hebrew Academy in Bryn Mawr, is the product’s leading champion, and its perfect spokesperson.

“It’s breathtaking,” he said of the new Scrub Daddy product that will soon to be released. “It’s a piece of artwork.”
