Become an Elwyn Elf and Create Holiday Magic for Someone Else

By

Elwyn LogoNow in its 22nd year, the Elwyn Elves program provides holiday gifts to children and adults in Elwyn programs who might otherwise not receive a gift during the holiday season.

Last year, more than 600 wishes were fulfilled, and more than 600 are expected to be granted this season. This year, Elwyn is debuting a new, streamlined online format designed to make the process easier for sponsors and volunteers.

“It is a special time of year,” said Rose Marie Greco, Elwyn’s Executive Director for Supports for Living. “It really means a lot to them. They’ll have gifts to open on the holiday. For those who don’t have families, this adds to the whole holiday experience.”

Greco said the recipients of each gift are so grateful for the Elves’ generosity.

“When you’re in their homes and you see them opening their gifts,” she said, “it’s just a really moving experience.”

Participating as an Elwyn Elf is simple and easy. Select a tag off the decorated tree located in the main lobby of the Administration Building on the Elwyn Media campus. Elves purchase the desired item(s) listed on the tag, and return the wrapped gift(s) to the Administration Building by Friday, Dec. 16.

The wishes include requests for clothing, games, electronics and toys.

If Elves are unable to shop for gifts, monetary contributions are appreciated. Elwyn staff will use the contributions to ensure every individual has at least one holiday wish fulfilled.

New to the program this year is a dedicated webpage for “one-stop shopping,” designed to make the process of giving easier. With a simple click, you can easily help create holiday magic for someone special.

“The Elves bring great joy to Elwyn each year,” said Jennifer Cohen, Marketing and Development Manager at Elwyn. “From staff members to local organizations, the community really makes the holiday season special for the people we care for. We cannot thank the individuals who serve as Elves enough for their generosity, kindness, time, and resources.”

Companies, organizations, and individuals who are interested in participating as Elwyn Elves may contact Angela McNamee now through Friday, Dec. 16 at 610-891-2409 or e-mail angela_mcnamee@elwyn.org.
