Garnet Valley’s Michael Thompson has decided to focus his post-retirement years on a new business that specializes in matching managers with restaurants, writes Brian McCullough for the Daily Local News.

A retired institutional investment director, Thompson is running Patrice & Associates from his home to help businesses in the hospitality industry find workers.

Having worked for various investment firms over nearly four decades, Thompson decided to invest $68,000 to purchase the Patrice franchise, which covers most of southeastern Pennsylvania and northern Delaware.

The recruitment agency only focuses on management positions that include chefs, sous-chefs, executive chefs, and various restaurant management roles. He receives fees from the restaurants for finding them talent, and also gets paid by other Patrice franchisees when he assists them in finding a suitable candidate for one of their client restaurants.

“It’s pure and simple a sales job,“ said Thompson. “You talk to restaurants and to candidates and find out their needs and you match them up.”

For the future, Thompson believes that there will be numerous business opportunities with local casinos, but for now, he is strictly focusing on building up his restaurant business.
