Todd Rundgren – a 1966 graduate of Upper Darby High School and world-renowned singer, songwriter, and producer – will be an artist-in-residence for the University of Notre Dame’s Department of Film, Television, and Theatre, writes Dennis Brown for Notre Dame News.

During his residency, from Sept. 22 to Oct. 1, Rundgren will teach several classes, work with students and teachers in the South Bend/Mishawaka community, and perform with student bands at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center on Oct. 1.

Rundgren will also attend the Notre Dame-Duke football game on Sept. 24 and be the subject of a “First Time Fans” documentary being produced by Fighting Irish Media.

“Todd Rundgren’s body of work epitomizes to our students, specifically in Arts and Letters, what we want them to become: artistic game changers on a global level,” said Ted Mandell, associate professional specialist in FTT.

Rundgren has never been to Notre Dame before, and said he’s looking forward to it.

“It’s a chance to hang out with really smart young kids, and find out what they’re thinking,” he said.
