CAADC Thanks Boeing for Its Partnership in Fighting Poverty

For more than two decades, one of the most reliable partners the Community Action Agency of Delaware County has had is Boeing, writes Edward T. Coleman for the Daily Times.

The Agency was formed by Delaware County Council 37 years ago to help many families stuck in a cycle of poverty move toward economic self-sufficiency. The task requires helping families with their immediate needs, life skills, and job-training programs, and needs strong private sector partners to help with job placements, writes Coleman, CAADC’s CEO.

While Boeing’s economic impact on the area is well known, it is far from the whole story on the good the company has done. Boeing works with project coordinators who serve as mentors while they seek employment, helping them find jobs and encourage them to continue their education.

In the past year, Boeing has also supported CAADC’s shelters for homeless families and individuals, and has helped the Agency establish its financial literacy program. Most recently, it helped fund youth job training programs, which help disadvantaged kids train for today’s workforce.
