At its July meeting, the Ridley School Board approved the sale of more than 18,000 square feet of school-district land to CVS Pharmacy, writes Barbara Ormsby for the Daily Times.

The lot, near Leedom Elementary School, is on East Chester Pike, between Rodney Road and Acres Drive.

CVS plans to use the land to expand its store location at the corner of Chester Pike and Acres Drive, provided the required land appraisal is met. The sale will also need the approval of the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas. Once the sale is finalized, it will allow a complete revamp of the school parking lot with improvements on safety and drainage.

Another proposal for the sale of district-owned land was suggested by school board member Harry McElwee during the meeting. This was for the sale of 2.5 acres of land adjacent to the rear of Grace Park School at Woodland Avenue off Milmont Avenue, which the board approved. It was originally going to be used for parking, but never went through after objections from nearby residents.
