Aaron Krause, the CEO of Folcroft-based Scrub Daddy, has won the Ernst & Young 2106 Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Consumer Products category in Greater Philadelphia.

Scrub Daddy, a line of the world’s most innovative cleaning products made of a proprietary unique and exclusive material, first gained the world’s attention on ABC’s Shark Tank.

In the episode that aired on Oct. 25, 2012, the sharks were fighting over Scrub Daddy, then a bright yellow sponge in the shape of a smiley face.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award program. The award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

Krause, a graduate of Akiba Hebrew Academy in Merion and a resident of Voorhees, N.J., was selected by an independent panel of judges. The award was presented at a special gala event at the Terrace Ballroom at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

“It was already an honor to be selected as a finalist and even more thrilling to have won the award,” Krause said. “As Scrub Daddy has become the world’s most innovative cleaning product, this nomination is a tribute to all of the employees at Scrub Daddy Inc., as well as all of our loyal customers!”

Since 1986, Ernst & Young has honored entrepreneurs whose ingenuity, spirit of innovation, and discipline have propelled their companies’ success, invigorated their industries, and benefited their communities.

In the past, the program has honored the inspirational leadership of such entrepreneurs as Howard Schultz of Starbucks, Robert Unanue of Goya Foods, and Mindy Grossman of HSN. Recent winners include Reid Hoffman and Jeff Weiner of LinkedIn and Hamdi Ulukaya, founder of Chobani.
