William D’Amico, the administrator at Fair Acres, Delaware County’s skilled nursing facility in Middletown, recently earned statewide recognition when he received the “Outstanding Affiliate” award from the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP).
D’Amico received the award at the CCAP annual conference held last week at Split Rock Resort in Carbon County. He also received a resolution from Delaware County Council Chairman Mario J. Civera at the conference.
CCAP is a statewide, nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing the 67 counties in Pennsylvania.
D’Amico was recognized for his leadership in urging the state legislature to eliminate a requirement that counties are responsible for 10 percent of their non-federal Medicaid costs at county-operated nursing homes. This will be phased out as new Medicaid managed care plans are implemented.
“Thanks to Bill’s work, we can continue to provide excellent, compassionate care for the 870 residents who call Fair Acres home, but we no longer have to ask our residents to shoulder the tax burden to help fund Fair Acres,” said Civera.
The funding relief will help all counties that operate skilled-care facilities for their elderly and frail residents.
D’Amico is president-elect of the Pennsylvania Coalition of Affiliated Healthcare and Living Communities (PACAH). He takes office in January.
D’Amico has served as the nursing home administrator at Fair Acres, the largest nursing home in the state, since April 2012.
