Founded in 1960, Don Guanella Village’s developmental programs division provides residential services for men for men over the age of 21, with a primary diagnosis of Intellecutal Disabilities, on the campus of Don Guanella Village. Don Guanella Village is committed to the belief that each individual has the right to strive to fulfill his potential in the physical, mental, emotional, social, psychological, and spiritual areas of his life.

Intellectual Disabilities Professional

The QIDP/ Program Specialist functions as an advocate, a facilitator and case manager in conjunction with the Interdisciplinary Team. As the Team Lead, will oversee the development and implementation of his/her assigned individual’s Program Plans relative to active treatment issues and makes recommendations and requests on behalf of the individuals for needed services and interventions.

The qualified applicant will have a bachelor’s degree in a human services field (including but not limited to: sociology, special education, rehabilitation counseling, and psychology as well as two years experience working with people with Intellectual Disabilities. The candidate must also have the ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and oral and have a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and basic knowledge of Access and/or ability to use/learn various database reporting systems.

In-Home Support Staff

The in-home support staff position enables individuals to carry out their personal choices and help build bridges that expand an individual’s community while providing an atmosphere of warmth, acceptance, and respect for individual(s) and their family, while providing oversight and ensuring the safety of the individual(s) in care. The support staff acts as a role model to work with individual(s) to expand recreational boundaries and circle or relationships; supporting relationships that exist in the individual’s life; connecting individual(s) to local supports and services.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and be able to effectively understand, read, write, print legibly, speak and do the following using the English language: read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Computer literacy is not required, but is preferred.

Community Support Professional

The Community Support Professional, in conjunction with the entire Interdisciplinary Team, assists individuals with Intellectual Disabilities in their daily living skills, program needs, emotional and behavior needs with a focus on providing quality care to each individual, encouraging them to reach their greatest level of independence while also becoming a part of their community. The duties of the position includes assisting each individual with their daily living needs such as: bathing, personal hygiene care, dressing etc. as well as Reinforcing positive behaviors and promotes social interaction with the individuals served by modeling appropriate behavior and developing a therapeutic rapport with the those entrusted to their care.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; experience preferred and have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to read and write in English. The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance is a must.
