Healthiest Employer, a privately held technology firm that has served more than 6,000 employers in North America, is a leading analytics resource, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Its Healthiest Employer Award recognizes organizations that proactively improve the health of their population. The national awards program evaluates employers of all sizes, industries, and stages of worksite wellness.

The Healthiest Employer Award is a web-based, 65-question survey scored using the Healthiest Employer Index (HEI), a scale of 1-100.

The HEI measures wellness programing across six key categories:

  1. Culture and Leadership Commitment
  2. Foundational Components
  3. Strategic Planning
  4. Communications and Marketing
  5. Programming and Interventions
  6. Reporting and Analysis

For employers of between 500 and 1,499 people, Wayne’s De Lage Landen – a provider of leasing and finance solutions, including vendor finance, and factoring – ranked the highest. And Radnor’s VWR, a provider of product and service solutions to laboratory and production customers, was the runner-up. Villanova University qualified for honorable mention.

DLL’s “Wellness Rewards” program requires employees to complete four main requirements each year in order to receive a medical premium differential of $500 annually: biometric screenings, an annual physical exam, preventive exam, and a health risk assessment.

Employees also have access to an onsite, state-of-the-art fitness center that hosts sporting tournaments, a “Walking Wednesday” group walk, onsite fitness classes, challenges, personal training programs, an annual wellness “Fit Fair,” health analyses, group exercise classes per week, personal training, and more.

VWR, meanwhile, offers the following programs to associates: biometric screenings, health assessment, fitness classes and programs, fitness and weight management reimbursement program, fresh fruit snacking program, corporate fitness discount programs, financial management programs, employee assistance program, annual flu shots, and social fitness and health competitions.

For employers of between 2 and 499 people, Wayne’s Global Tax Management was honorable mention.

For employers of more than 5,000 people, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co, with offices in Radnor and Media was honorable mention, as was Nemours, the pediatric healthcare system with locations in Newtown Square and Glen Mills.
