After Two Years of Reorganizing and Renovating, Marple Newtown Swim Club to Open on Saturday

The Marple Newtown Swim Club will reopen on Saturday, May 28.

Get your swimming gear ready, as after two years of reorganizing and renovating, the Marple Newtown Swim Club in Marple Township will reopen this Memorial Day weekend, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Marple Newtown County Press.

The grand reopening is at noon on Saturday. Hours will be limited until the official start of the season on June 11, after which the club will be open daily from 11 AM to 8 PM until Labor Day weekend.

The main area includes three large pools for diving and swimming laps, as well as a safely-fenced-in baby pool. The club also offers a snack bar with a screened-in eating area, a sports area for basketball and ping-pong, free WiFi, and group and private swim lessons.

Due to a decrease in membership and rumored financial difficulties, the club did not open last year. Since then, it has formed a new board of directors to secure this summer opening.

“We’ve power-washed, scrubbed, painted, and planted, all in an effort to restore beauty to our ‘hidden gem’ for 2016,” said Vice President Darcy Hyde.
