Wawa hoagies are now the “Official Hoagie of the Philadelphia Phillies,” a formal partnership that turns a long-running ballpark habit into a hometown alliance, according to Hayden Mitman for NBC 10 Philadelphia.
“We are thrilled to be the Official Hoagie of the Philadelphia Phillies and can’t wait to provide double the hometown fun for fans this summer,” said Doug Martin, Chief Marketing Officer for Wawa. “We will continue to provide exciting announcements about how fans can score swag and details on upcoming products that are sure to be a hit with fans!”
Wawa Inc. and the Phillies announced the deal Tuesday, putting an official label on a pairing that already felt inevitable.
Citizens Bank Park has long allowed outside food, and on game days the stands fill with fans unwrapping Wawa hoagies brought from home.
To mark the partnership, Wawa is planning four fan activations across the Phillies season.
The first brings a Hoagiefest-themed experience to the Third Base Plaza on Monday, June 29, when the Phillies host the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Starting at 4:40 PM, fans can grab Hoagiefest shirts, bucket hats, coupons, koozies, and other giveaways.
Phillies Vice President of Corporate Partnerships Brian Fling called Wawa an iconic part of the Philadelphia community and said the partnership will add energy and hometown pride to the ballpark.
Wawa is also expected to expand its footprint at the stadium, with fans getting chances to win tickets and one-of-a-kind Phillies experiences.
The announcement lands alongside the return of Hoagiefest, running through July 26 at more than 1,200 stores.
This year’s deals include a $6 Shorti hoagie, wrap or chicken sandwich meal with Herr’s chips and a fountain drink, plus an $8 Classic hoagie meal with the same sides.
