Radnor native and sportscaster Devan Kaney is leaving Philadelphia for a bigger stage, signing off from Fox 29 to take a television role covering the NFL in a larger market, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal. 

Kaney shared the news Sunday evening on social media, telling viewers she had left her weekend sports anchor role at Fox 29. She had been a contributor there since June 2023. 

She framed the exit as a pause. 

It’s “not goodbye Philly” but “see ya later,” she wrote, adding that she would still be around and podcasting about the Phillies. 

The move caps a fast-moving stretch for Kaney.  

It comes months after she was laid off from SportsRadio 94 WIP-FM, where she had become a familiar voice in Philadelphia sports. 

Kaney joined WIP in 2022 and quickly took on a range of roles.  

She worked with the morning show team, hosted weekend mornings with Ruben Amaro Jr., and served as a Phillies reporter.  

In December 2024, she became an Eagles sideline reporter following Howard Eskin’s departure. 

That job put her on one of football’s biggest stages almost immediately.  

A month later, she was on the sideline in New Orleans for WIP’s broadcast of the Eagles’ 40-22 Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs. 

Kaney said she couldn’t yet share details about the new job, only that she’s looking forward to the opportunity.  

“Covering your childhood team, that’s the dream,” said Kaney about her time covering the Eagles. “But everything works out for the best.” 

The move lines up with a goal she set earlier this year, when she said she hoped to pursue sideline reporting in television at the national level. 

Kaney also recently launched Werth Talking About, a weekly podcast with former Phillies rightfielder Jayson Werth that covers Phillies baseball and horse racing.
