Braithwaite Communications, a longtime Philadelphia-based public relations and marketing agency, has officially been acquired by Atlanta-based Arketi Group, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
This acquisition marks a significant shift in Philadelphia’s communications landscape.
Founded in 1998 by Hugh and Carolyn Braithwaite, the firm has built a reputation in Philadelphia for strategic storytelling, public relations, branding, crisis communications, and digital marketing work for clients ranging from nonprofits to major corporations over the past nearly three decades.
Over time, Braithwaite became one of the city’s better-known independent communications agencies, with a strong presence in healthcare, education, financial services, and consumer brands.
Its acquisition by Arketi Group comes roughly two years after the death of co-founder Hugh Braithwaite and represents the next chapter for the nearly 30-year-old agency.
While the death marked a loss that left the agency’s future uncertain, it did not diminish what he and Carolyn had built together.
In that sense, the deal is just as much about legacy as it is about business strategy.
Arketi Group has spent recent years expanding nationally as an integrated B2B marketing and communications platform focused on technology, fintech, cybersecurity, manufacturing, and corporate communications.
The company emphasizes combining PR, branding, digital strategy, SEO, and demand generation into one integrated model.
The deal gives Arketi a stronger Northeast footprint, while expanding Braithwaite’s access to national resources and specialized B2B expertise.
“We’re looking to continue to grow and build on what has been Braithwaite the last 30 years,” said Braithwaite President Jason Rocker. “It’s a tremendous opportunity to continue what we are doing but join forces with a similar company.”
Leaders from both firms described the move as a cultural and strategic fit centered on growth, storytelling, and integrated communications.
