While you might not be able to grab a cheesesteak during the 2026 PGA Championship, there are plenty of other delicious menu offerings from Philadelphia-area companies available, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
For the last two years, the Patina Group, which is the catering partner for the PGA of America, has been preparing for the tournament at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square.
Vice President of Operations for Patina, Eric Babcook, noted that the catering service was looking for ways to bring Philly flavors to the event, while being mindful of the protective attitude Philadelphians have toward water ice and cheesesteaks.
“We’re very cognizant not to try to recreate the wheel. To come in and say that we’re going to do a Philly cheesesteak, it would do a disservice to the [locals],” Babcook said.
Rather, Philly-area companies have been recruited to offer regional cuisine.
Delco-based Wawa made over 7,000 donuts for the event, while Philadelphia’s Isgro Pastries baked up 600 desserts.
LeBus Bakery in King of Prussia, West Chester’s Levante Brewing Co., Hangry Bear Creamery of Kennett Square, Philly’s Dre’s Ice Cream, and Fat Cow Jerky in Delco are also among the companies providing food for the event.
Beyond using local businesses for catering, the Patina Group is also sourcing ingredients from Pennsylvania farms.
